A Final Word

Here’s how the finalists were judged

After an involving 3-month campaign, the top three dogs and cats in each state and territory were confirmed. These 48 finalists were then subjected to a rigorous 2 week review of their activity throughout the competition culminating in a final judging day on October 15th where in depth discussions took place and the two winners were unanimously decided upon.

The judging panel was headed by Dr Katrina Warren and supported by a talent agent, a marketing expert and Bayer representative plus communications specialists representing both strategic and creative disciplines.

The judges’ criteria was based on looking for Australia’s most complete all-round pets who would demonstrate health, vitality and personality.

Jack’s winning credentials

The judges noted that Jack was obviously good-natured, well trained, obedient and healthy. From a deprived and abused background, Jack showed much courage and a resilient personality.
He lived with cats, which was determined as an important factor given his role as the joint future Advocate ambassador alongside the winning cat.

He campaigned strongly as an individual without resorting to alliances.
Jack attained the most activity points within the top 3 dogs in his home state.
The creativity shown in Jack’s photographic portfolio also impressed the judges.

Tobias’ winning credentials

Of importance here was Tobias’ easy-going disposition and personality.
Although being a rural outdoor cat, his versatility and flexibility was another strong point, as he worked well with other cats and animals in various locations; and was very much at ease with photographers, which were vital attributes considering his future starring role.

His campaign was very consistent being at times the 1st and finally the 2nd highest performer in activity points in his state. Tobias was also generous and supportive of other competitors on the site, readily offering vitality tips and health advice.

We therefore want to congratulate Jack and Tobias once again on their campaigns and becoming the new furry faces of Advocate. Both animals will now go on to star in a national advertising campaign, which looks likely to take the form of a print campaign.

On a final note, we would like to clear up any confusion as to the role our Advocate ambassadors will play in terms of packaging. Neither Jack nor Tobias will be feature on the Advocate product packs, and these will remain unchanged from their current look.
